Dear Friends, The Boulevard has been a part of our GAY community since 1979. As the only LGBTQ+ bar in Pasadena, we strive to provide a fun,
safe space with great drinks, fantastic shows, and nightly karaoke. Our history is rich with experiences that have made us more than just a bar. We have involved ourselves in post Stonewall activities and politics. We were there when the AIDS epidemic broke, taking many of our loved ones with it. The original owners of the Boulevard, along with employees and caring customers/friends, started an incredible organization that worked to help those in our community through the height of the epidemic. We stood together and did whatever we could to help or ease the pain of those affected directly or indirectly. We walked in or supported the annual AIDS Walk. We have volunteered in and supported all of the Pride festivals which choose to include us or asked us for help. We marched tirelessly in protest of Prop. 8. We celebrated the historic decision in Obergefell v. Hodges that granted same-sex marriages and have fought to defend these rights ever since. We have supported and donated to a variety of LGBTQ+ supporting organizations, including alcohol and drug recovery; support systems and programs for HIV, strokes, cystic fibrosis, and breast cancer; and community sports teams. We've given performers/artists/musicians opportunities to gain experience and progress their creative and professional talents. Though we had to close during the Covid pandemic, we kept our connections alive through virtual shows and get-togethers to make sure that no one felt alone. Times have changed. Times are much better. It's what we always wanted. The struggle is not over by any means. There is more work to be done and we will be here to stand alongside our community. Whether we offer a venue that suits you or is your type of "gay" bar, you can feel assured that you do not have to question our commitment to our community nor to the basic rights of all LGBTQ+ people everywhere!!
