✅ Are they insured?
✅ Are they operating in compliance with current laws and regulations?

Saving a few dollars isn't worth the risk if corners are being cut on the things that protect you, your guests, and your event.

🥂 One of the biggest mistakes we see when planning weddings? **Over-ordering alcohol... and not by a little!** 🥂

We hear it all the time:

💬 "You don't know our crowd."
💬 "We have heavy drinkers."
💬 "Our friends can really put it away."
💬 "What do you really know about ordering for a wedding?" 😅🤷🏼‍♀️

And honestly, we get it! No one wants to run out. But there are a lot of factors that go into alcohol planning that most people don't think about.

✨ **Here are a few things we take into consideration:**

1️⃣ **Most guests are there to celebrate YOU.**
The majority of your guests are coming to witness your marriage, spend time with loved ones, dance, eat good food, and make memories. They're not showing up with the goal of getting completely hammered.

2️⃣ **We can't (and won't) overserve.**
This isn't just good practice—it's the law. As professional bartenders, we have a responsibility to serve safely. Our business, licenses, reputation, and insurance are all on the line. If someone has had too much, we're not serving them more.

3️⃣ **Your venue won't allow it either.**
Most venues have policies in place regarding intoxicated guests and many require security for this very reason. Your vendor team works together to make sure everyone has a fun and safe experience.

4️⃣ **There's a method behind our recommendations.**
We consider guest count, reception length, drink selections, time of day, and years of experience serving events. We intentionally build in a buffer and round up our recommendations. In all our years of service, we've rarely had a wedding run out unless recommendations weren't followed or guest counts changed significantly.

5️⃣ **Running out of one item doesn't mean you're out of alcohol.**
Maybe the most popular beer kicks. Maybe the signature cocktail is a huge hit and disappears before the night ends. That's okay! As long as there are still other beverage options available, your bar is still fully operational.

💙 At the end of the day, the most important thing for you to focus on is not whether there are 14 extra bottles of beer sitting at the end of the night.

The most important thing is enjoying your day, soaking in every moment, laughing with your friends, dancing with your family, and celebrating the love that brought everyone together.

📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR EVENT VENUES & ALCOHOL SERVICE PROVIDERS
Beginning July 1, 2026, the Marissa Murrow Act will go into effect in Oklahoma.

Under the new law, individuals serving alcoholic beverages at an event venue will be required to obtain an Event Bartender License, regardless of the type of event being held. The legislation also establishes in-person training requirements for event venue bartender licensees.

The Marissa Murrow Act was enacted through House Bill 2369 (2025 Legislative Session), creating new licensing provisions and defining “event venue” under Oklahoma alcoholic beverage laws.

This legislation is designed to strengthen accountability, promote responsible alcohol service, and enhance public safety across Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma ABLE Commission will continue providing education and resources to help businesses, venue operators, and alcohol service professionals prepare for these changes before the law takes effect.

✨ Our team at Raise the Bar Events was so honored to be a part of Bailey and Jeff’s beautiful rehearsal dinner on Thursday evening! ✨

Hosted at the cozy and stunning **The Canopy** downtown, the evening was filled with everything that makes a celebration special—delicious food, great drinks, lots of laughter, and the love of family and friends surrounding the happy couple as they prepared to say “I do.”

We also have to take a moment to admire the incredible décor! From the thoughtful details to the meaningful pieces that once hung in Bailey’s grandmother’s home in Sweden, every element told a story and made the evening feel even more personal. The beautiful tributes honoring loved ones who were there in spirit were such a touching reminder that love truly spans generations.

Thank you, Bailey and Jeff, for allowing us to be a small part of such a special celebration. We wish you both a lifetime filled with love, laughter, adventure, and endless happiness. 🥂💙

We get asked all the time — what’s the biggest mistake we see couples make when planning their wedding? And honestly… it’s not even bar or alcohol related.

Our number one piece of advice: hire the wedding planner or day-of coordinator. 💙

After doing countless weddings, we can almost immediately tell which weddings have a planner and which ones don’t. A good planner keeps your day running smoothly, keeps vendors coordinated, handles timelines, solves problems before you ever know they happened, and makes sure everyone and everything is exactly where it needs to be.

One of the biggest things we notice? When family and friends are put in charge of “helping.” While everyone means well, it often takes away from them actually being able to enjoy your big day with you — and adds unnecessary stress for everyone involved. Your wedding day should be spent making memories, not answering vendor questions or figuring out where the cake table goes.

Trust us when we say: hiring the planner is worth the investment. The peace of mind alone is priceless. 💙

We had an absolute blast crafting delicious cocktails and serving all of your friends and family who came together to celebrate your love story! I’m honestly so sad I didn’t get more pictures because every single detail was stunning and thoughtfully put together. From the amazing planning team, the beautiful florals and décor, the incredible cake, live band, delicious catering and wine from the winery next door, all the way down to the ice cream and cannolis — everything was absolutely spectacular! Peep the cutest dogs on the napkins also!
