As we get closer to our one year anniversary on June 18th, we just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. From day one, the support from this community has meant everything to us. Whether you’ve stopped in weekly, shared a post, told a friend about us, or left us a kind review, every bit of support has helped make Misfits what it is today!
Opening our doors almost a year ago was both exciting and terrifying, and we truly couldn’t have made it this far without all of you behind us. The encouragement, recommendations, feedback, and continued support through every long day and late night have meant more than we can put into words.
Our vision from the beginning has been simple: create an amazing lunch spot with fast, fresh, and different food and drinks. A place where people could come in and truly “Escape the Ordinary.” That phrase became more than just a tagline for us. It became the goal behind everything we do. From the menu concepts and flavors to the atmosphere and experience, we’ve always wanted Misfits Ottawa to feel different from the typical lunch spot.
As we continue to grow, our vision also includes becoming a true “third place” at night. Somewhere people can come to relax, hang out, and enjoy good food and good company outside of work and home. In the evenings, we’ll continue evolving with a more limited menu featuring shareables. Items bigger than a traditional appetizer but not quite a full entrée, alongside some of the top hits from our main menu.
We also want everyone to know that we hear and understand the feedback regarding limited DoorDash hours. We originally chose to utilize DoorDash during all hours as a way to get our food out to more people quickly while we continue building and growing the dine-in experience. We’ll still continue offering DoorDash during lunch, but after lunch service we’ll be shifting to dine-in and carryout only as we focus on creating the nighttime atmosphere and experience we envision for Misfits.
We’re also excited about some upcoming improvements we’ll be making to the business in the near future. One area we’re especially looking forward to upgrading is our outdoor seating experience so we can better take advantage of the beautiful weather days and create an even better place for people to relax and enjoy themselves. We also plan to utilize the other side of our building as a quicker lunch ordering counter and casual eat-in space for those looking to grab fresh food fast and get back to work without sacrificing quality or experience.
Most importantly, we’ll continue looking for ways to connect more with our community in the coming year. Supporting local events, creating new experiences, listening to feedback, and building relationships with the people who support us will always be a huge part of what Misfits is about.
We’re still learning, still growing, and still working every day to make Misfits Ottawa something special for this community.
