🍻 An Important Update from Tim / Black Bear Brewing 🍻
I want to clear up some confusion about what’s happening in our old location and with the Black Bear Brewing name.
To be absolutely clear: I am no longer involved with the business that is opening in our former space. While it may use a name similar to Black Bear Brewing, it is not the same business, and I have no connection to it. The new operation is using the name without my approval and is not part of the original Black Bear Brewing that served this community for 20 years.
Black Bear Brewing, the small, independent brewery we built together since 2004, was forced to close last year after overwhelming challenges. Despite every effort to rebuild through a partnership, it fell apart when commitments weren’t honored, leaving me with no choice but to close for good.
I know many Mug Club members are upset and asking about their mugs. I completely understand — those mugs represent years of support and friendship. Unfortunately, the mugs are currently stored offsite, and access has been complicated by this situation. I’m doing what I can to recover them and will share updates if and when that becomes possible.
Please know — the place opening now is not the Black Bear Brewing you supported. That chapter has closed, and I’ll always be grateful for every single one of you who made it special.
Thank you for 20 amazing years of beer, music, and community. You’ll always be part of what made Black Bear Brewing “Orono’s Living Room.”
With gratitude,
Tim
