Remember no hate speech or name calling. Let’s share philosophies.
If you consider the basic element of society the sole person, then said person is responsible for fulfilling all their needs. Follow the logic up one level. Two people depend on each other to fill their needs. Next level up, children, the parents are responsible. When the children are old enough they go out on their own and become responsible for themselves any any children they may produce. If you are a grandparent you will follow this logic. You are in an advisory capacity only. You are the emergency back up and step in only when asked! You watch your children and grandchildren grow and learn. They come to at times for counsel. They want to be independent and not dependent! You as the elder human in this social construct are not there to run their daily lives!
If you agree with this premise, then you will see the logic when I replace the family unit with the federal government. The States are responsible for the safety and well being of their constituents. They have agencies that mirror those of the Federal government. Agencies like FEMA, the National Guard etc.. When I hear politicians lamenting about the lack of medical supplies and funding for said supplies, I wonder what the State Agencies responsible for ensuring these emergency supplies where doing!
This medical crisis brings to mind the Aesop fable of the grasshopper and the ant. Why do some states have supplies for emergency situations and some don’t? I am not an advocate of Big Government. I firmly believe in the concept of “State’s Rights”. When this is over and it will end, we should take a very hard look at the local elected officials and their part in the lack of preparation.
That being said, I learned early in my Navy Career the concept of the “ 7 P’s”. My sons know it well. For political correctness I will modify it to the “6 P’s”
