A couple weeks back, we had a pretty major piece of equipment go down at the brewery. While this equipment is repairable, the cost would be considerable and would incur significant down time for production. In exploring our options, we quickly determined that it was time to face some tough decisions. While we’ve know for some time that we’d face this eventually… it’s become clear that the time is now.
We’ve decided to suspend beer production effective immediately. Moving forward, we will only be selling beer out of our Tasting Room in Orange. Additionally, we are beginning to make arrangements to wind the business as a whole down over the next couple months. The Tasting Room will remain open as normal during this time as we work through the beer we have on hand and figure out how we dismantle this place. We don’t relish the decision but feel that in light of all the changes in the brewing business over the last handful of years, we don’t see a viable path forward.
We’d like to sincerely thank every person who’s come through the doors at Honest Weight, each person who has shared our beer with their friends, every store, bar or restaurant who has shared our beer…we owe you the world! Thank you all for keeping us in business for 10 years! We seriously appreciate the patronage, community, energy and love!
That community is what we think of first when reflecting on the history of Honest Weight. In this little place we dreamed up, we have been lucky enough to witness and experience so much joy. We’ve hosted many legendary parties, a couple weddings, partnered with great local nonprofits, and watched so many strangers become friends. From River Rat to Garlic & Arts, Trivia Nights to Run Club, The Grow & Tell to Karaoke Nights….the list goes on. We are honored to have been a part of this community and we’ve truly loved every second of the journey.
We don’t know how long this next phase of HW will last, so we’ve held off on picking an exact closing date for now. We’d like to, as we have since 2015, invite you to come by and raise a glass with us and your friends! We’ve got some fun stuff in store for this final chapter! We encourage you to make it a point to come and experience some of that joy with us, one last time.
