This week’s COTW is the Southern Draw Morning Glory.
The name comes from the Heavenly Blue morning glory flower. It opens early, shows what it came to do, and by mid-afternoon it closes for good. That same flower doesn’t open again. The vine moves on and brings something new the next morning.
That’s a pretty solid way to think about this cigar.
Morning Glory is not trying to be loud, heavy, or aggressive. It’s smooth, mellow-medium, and built for the smoker who knows there’s nothing wrong with slowing down and paying attention.
Wrapped in a light U.S. Connecticut Claro wrapper, with a Nicaraguan Habano Hybrid binder and Nicaraguan Corojo 99 and Criollo 98 fillers, this cigar brings more backbone than people usually expect from something this approachable.
You’ll get roasted nuts, cream, buttered toast, baking spices, cocoa, and cedar. Clean. Steady. Smooth without being boring.
It’s the kind of cigar that works early in the day, after lunch, or anytime you want something easy to enjoy without feeling like you’re smoking warm air.
Grab one this week, light it up, and give it the attention it deserves.
Because just like the flower, once it’s gone, it’s gone.
