Weekly trivia is back Wednesday June 3rd!

This year, summer trivia is bigger than just us, on July 22 the team with the highest cumulative score from June 3 to July 22 will be crowned our Summer Trivia Champions. And in the spirit of community, we’ll make a donation for the amount equal to their number of points to a local organization of their choice!

Spread the word, don’t be a turd! Let’s share in the fun and shining a spotlight on the organizations in our community that lift us all up!

Ever wonder where the Mackey name comes from?

Around 1890 Bridget Mackey fled an arranged marriage in Ireland. She traveled from Limerick, Ireland to Chicago where she met her husband Hugh of Tipperary. The two wed and had six children, one of which was Shawn’s great-grandmother Mary Grove. Bridget’s cousin Mick Mackey born in the early 20th century went on to build quite the legacy as hurling’s first superstar. The Gaelic Grounds in Limerick carry on his legacy and have named part of their stadium stands after him.

In a lot of ways our family history has been one of perseverance, grit, and passion. We feel so blessed to be able to carry on the Mackey name and do our best to embody these values. One courageous woman laid the stones for generations to come. We appreciate our immigrant heritage and hope to provide the spirits and refuge they may have needed along the way once upon a time. May we continue the traditions of excellence, courage, and craic (Irish for fun)🍻

What a treat it was to return to Limerick and see the Mackey Stand, we hope Bridget and Mick are looking down fondly at the full circle moment we were able to share in!
