The owner decked out this divey Benson spot with decorations from his father's basement bar. It feels homy and warm when you walk in, especially basking in the glow of one of those vintage animated Hamm's Beer signs. The staff are great and can tell you what's going on in the neighborhood on any given night. The tap selections are always changing, but there's something for every

one - Coors Light to local craft beer. Prices are reasonable. There's live music or comedy here most nights of the week, so don't be surprised if you're asked to pay a cover. The music venue side of the bar has tables and chairs, a nice stage and a recently updated sound system. It's a great place to have an intimate night out enjoying local music. I love the Barley Street Tavern and have always felt at home here. They even have a resident bar cat who hangs out most of the time. You don't find things like that at many other places, and it only adds to Barley Street's uniqueness and charm. It's an Omaha gem.

A true friend and lifetime supporter of the local music scene. You couldn’t find a kinder more compassionate man. I spent so many nights just laughing and telling stories with this man. He’d give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. He gave me work when I was in need. He really loved hanging with the bands. Greg Jones you will be missed by the better part of this town.

It was sad yesterday seeing all the photos float past my Facebook feed of people’s favorite times at The Barley Street Tavern. The hole-in-the-wall Benson bar that also acted as a live venue closed its doors yesterday, soon to be taken over by new owners with a different vision.
