Anna Wilson was one of Omaha’s most infamous early madams, a sharp businesswoman, and later a major philanthropist.

When she died in 1911, she left her fortune to local causes and gave her 25-room brothel to the City of Omaha, where it later served as the Emergency Hospital. She is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery beside Dan Allen, under one of Omaha’s most recognizable grave markers.

We named Anna’s Place after her because she represents a version of Omaha history that is complicated, feminine, powerful, uncomfortable, and worth remembering.

The yellow roses are not random. A yellow rose has traditionally been placed at Anna Wilson’s grave during Prospect Hill’s Memorial Day remembrance, a practice reported as dating back to 1912.

So we brought her yellow roses.

You do not need to “know tarot” to come to Tarot Tuesday.

Half the people sitting at the table are just curious and wanted an excuse to wear black and drink something weird.

Madame Davina will be reading cards all night at Anna’s Place.

And on Saturday, June 6th, she’s teaching Learning the Language of Tarot — a beginner-friendly class for people who’ve always been tarot curious but intimidated by all the mystical gatekeeping online.

Drinks included. Small seating.
