We should start appreciating local businesses while they are still open instead of posting about them after they are already closed!
MOST people don’t support small businesses… they support the IDEA of small businesses.
Every time a local business closes, the comments are overwhelmed with...
“OMG this is so sad!”
“We need to support small businesses!”
“I hate seeing local businesses close!”
But while that business was OPEN...
“Why are they so expensive?”
“I can get it cheaper online.”
“They charge HOW MUCH?!”
“I know somewhere where its cheaper."
“Can I get a discount?”
You can’t scream support small businesses after they close while complaining that they charge too much while they are open! Most charge just enough to actually try and stay afloat and stay open!
We dont just pay rent... we have rent, supplies, TAXES... heavy on the taxes... insurance, education, equipment, fees, payroll, etc. Just like you guys, we also have our families to feed.
After all of those expenses are paid, we still need to make a profit!! Profit is not a dirty word!! Its actually a good thing!
Supporting small businesses doesn’t mean you have to buy from every one of them. If something isn’t in your budget, that’s completely OKAY! There is nothing wrong with that!
There’s a HUGE difference between saying,
'I can’t afford that right now' and saying
'They charge too much.'
One of those can completely RUIN a business!!
We don’t charge too much... Unfortunately, that’s simply what it costs for a small business to survive in today's world.
Supporting a small business isn’t just sharing the 'closing our doors' post. It’s showing up before that post ever has to be made.
