Well folks, tonight’s the night. For our last night we wanted to set a few expectations and address some questions we’ve been getting.

1. Since we’re closing, expect there to be little to no alcohol when you get there. It’s not your bartenders fault so be kind to them. It’s also still illegal to bring your own alcohol into the bar. We want to have the option to potentially reopen and allowing you to byob will hurt this chance. Please don’t!

2. We will have sodas/juices and water for you to enjoy. Please keep in mind to tip your bartenders and band. They’re still providing you a service and deserve to be appreciated for their work tonight and all of the service they’ve provided over the years.

3. It’s still a non-smoking venue. Please keep it on the outside patio.

4. No we’re not selling our equipment yet. We’re exploring a few reopening options before we pull the trigger on this.

5. We understand you are all going to want memorabilia but please ask before taking it. We want to make sure things go to the correct owners first, For pictures/flyers, etc. I can make copies so everyone interested can benefit.

6. If you’re interested in leasing the business, send your proposal to mojosbluesclub23@gmail..com.

7. There is no free parking. There will be too many people for us to offer free parking to anyone other than the host band and the employees tonight. Please use the surrounding pay lots. Street parking is also free this weekend.

8. Leads on potential music bookings and bartending positions will be greatly appreciated! Send us a message here, email us, or contact Jenny with any leads.

9. Please keep it positive and kind tonight. It’s everyone’s last night and we all just want to enjoy it. Use this night to hug your friends, see people you haven’t seen in years, share your stories, and just enjoy. I promise we’re all sad and hurt but we don’t need to point fingers or take it out on others.

10. There’s a lot of uncertainty and there’s a lot of questions I missed. Get in contact with us with any questions you have. And stay in touch! We’ll miss seeing all of you.

HEY LOCO FANS – Texas blues guitarist Buddy Whittington was born December 28, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas. He began playing the guitar inspired by his sister's records of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton.

At the age of 14 he was already a part of the Dallas/Fort Worth music scene and playing regularly in the clubs along Jacksboro Highway. While attending L.D. Bell High School, Whittington played in a band called Short Change, which opened for Point Blank, a band that he would later join, replacing guitar player Kim Davis. During the early 1980s, he formed and sang with his own band, The Sidemen.

Whittington explains that "the band I was in at the time, 'The Sidemen', had a good friend in Mr. Jerry Thompson, who these days is President of Promoterline Inc., but back then was managing the Dallas Alley complex, where he would book us as the opening act on any number of outdoor events and shows, and we were booked as the opener for a Bluesbreakers' show.... Mr. Mayall asked me for my contact info, we stayed loosely in touch for the next two years, and when then-Bluesbreakers guitarist Coco Montoya decided it was time to hit the highway on his own, I 'received the call' and appeared on countless Mayall shows and recordings worldwide for the 15 years between 1993 and 2008, at which time the existing Bluesbreakers were 'kicked out of the nest' and the band was reformed by Mayall."

In 2008, Whittington released his first solo album and he continues to tour regularly in the UK and throughout Europe, though Roger Cotton has left the band, which now works as a th*****me featuring Darby Todd on drums. In August 2013, Whittington sat in with his old boss John Mayall at the Bedford Blues Festival in Bedford, Texas. Whittington lives in Hurst, Texas with his family.

You can find his latest info posted on his page: https://www.facebook.com/BuddyWhittingtonBand

HEY LOCO FANS - Happy Birthday to the Voodoo man himself, New Orleans own Dr. John born November 20, 1941. Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. became "Dr. John" on stage and took the sounds and traditions of New Orleans blues, jazz, and R&B and twisted them into new forms.

As time went by, he would later become one of the strongest proponents of the Crescent City’s musical heritage, celebrating the songs that made that city great, as well as the men and women who made them. Throughout his career, he was widely recognized for his skillful and soulful approach to keyboards and the guitar, both on his own recordings and when backing other artists.

Active as a session musician from the late 1950s until his death, he gained a following in the late 1960s after the release of his album Gris-Gris and his appearance at the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music. He typically performed a lively, theatrical stage show inspired by medicine shows, Mardi Gras costumes, and voodoo ceremonies. Rebennack recorded thirty studio albums and nine live albums, as well as contributing to thousands of other musicians' recordings. In 1973, he achieved a top 10 hit single with "Right Place, Wrong Time".

Like others in his time, he struggled with drug abuse. In December of 1989 he successfully kicked a he**in addiction when he completed his final rehabilitation stint with the help of Narcotics Anonymous, and remained clean for the rest of his life.

On June 6, 2019, Dr. John died of a heart attack. His family announced through his longtime publicist Karen Dalton Beninato that he died at break of day, and "he created a unique blend of music which carried his home town, New Orleans, at its heart, as it was always in his heart."

The winner of six Grammy Awards, Rebennack was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by singer John Legend in March 2011.

In May 2013 Rebennack received an honorary doctorate of fine arts from Tulane University.
