This past week I had the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to Brazil with ~ it both push me out of my comfort zone and enlivened my inner child. Iโve noticed all best experiences in life seem to do both these things!
You guys know I have had a passion for sustainable farming since I watched and decided to spend one summer learning about soil, biodiversity, and regenerative farming at a small family farm in Ojai, California.
This trip to Brazil was unique in that of course these farmers grow food for their families and their communities, but a huge part of their job is growing organic cotton solely for Veja shoes which are made up of all raw materials that are ethically sourced by real hands - real families with generational history that find hard earned pride in their work.
It was incredibly unique to be able to learn about a manufacturing process that combines both my love for fashion and farming since most of the time these two worlds are mutually exclusive.
This week was a great reminder that โsustainabilityโ itโs so much more than a click-bait label. Sustainability is constantly life practice. Practicing sustainability, both in fashion and in achieving our dreams, takes more time, patience, ethics, and knowledge, but the result will always be so much more HUMAN and filled with so much more HEART.
