Wander The Monarch with live music from Justine Griffin, blending pop, electric violin, and vocals to set the vibe while you explore. Shop local with vendors like Sparkles and Smiled Jewelry, try something new with Touche Cosmetics, and grab something to eat while you’re here. Fresh homemade pupusas will be hot and ready, thick, cheesy, stuffed tortillas grilled to perfection. Grab one or two and wash it down with a beer or seltzer from our bar! You’ll also find fresh baked pastries from Petra’s Backstübchen for dessert.
Ogden Contemporary Arts is turning their gallery into an interactive space with Kill Joy & Kitchen Table: Live Screen Printing. From 6 to 9 PM, a pop up print shop will be set up right in the gallery where you can watch, create, and take home your own piece. Try free screen printing with visiting artists, make a star wand, and explore work centered around social and environmental themes. It is a space that invites you to slow down, get involved, and experience art in a more hands on way!
Inside Studio 33, Wide Awake Studio’s Art Bar also invites you to get hands on and create whatever you are in the mood for! You choose your project! Design a custom skate deck, paint a vinyl record, experiment with watercolor, create graffiti style art, or build your own collage or planter. There is something for every kind of creative, plus a mystery secret menu item so expect something unexpected and leave with something completely your own.
Studio 04 is still being welcomed into The Monarch, making it the perfect time to stop in and meet the new artist behind the space. Leon Araujo, aka Noise Explosion, is a self taught Latino artist from Ogden whose work spans digital media, murals, photography, and videography, all infused with his cultural roots. His Sketching Ogden series, created during the pandemic to highlight local businesses, gained major recognition and helped launch him further into the local art scene. Since then, he has earned multiple commissions and was awarded the Ogden Mayor’s Emerging Artist Award in 2022. Step inside, see what he is creating, and get to know the mind behind it.
Elemental Palmistry will be offering quick, personal readings throughout the night. Stop by for a 15 minute session and explore what your palm lines might reveal about your path, strengths, and direction. It is a unique and introspective addition to the evening and something a little different to experience!
Art Box candle-making is a First Friday classic, and with Mother’s Day around the corner, this is your sign to finally try it! Create your own custom candle by picking your vessel, scent, and style, then pour it right there. It is a fun, easy experience that turns into a gift you will actually want to keep or give.
