Update on Oakmont and as of now we still do not have electricity. We will continue to update you.
Oakmont: September 4, 2026 (9:00 AM) UPDATE
Please review the following information or updates:
Last evening, Mayor Sophia Facaros issued a Declaration of Disaster Emergency which permitted Borough officials the opportunity to expedite the use of contracted services to meet the cleanup demands this storm created.
Oakmont has retained the services of BeaverJack Tree Service and Elevated Tree Care. No other tree service company is working at the direction of Oakmont Borough.
Until further notice, Riverside Park is closed to the public.
Borough officials have surveyed the entire community and identified the location of downed or damaged trees. It is not necessary to contact the Borough offices about downed or hazardous trees.
Borough Trees (trees between the curb and sidewalk): These trees will be cleared in no specific order except trees with utility lines intermixed in branches cannot be cleared until Duquesne Light clears the lines.
Assistance with removing tree limb piles: Oakmont will not be addressing roadside piles of damaged limbs and such until next week. There is no rush to create piles today.
Private Trees over sidewalks/roadway: Oakmont will clear the hazard over the sidewalk and right-of-way but not remove any private tree itself.
Duquesne Light: Line crews are working throughout the Borough restoring electrical service. Please be mindful of downed lines that may be recharged as the system is restored.
Dispelling a rumor: No one is confined to their residences. However, understand there is a challenge to get “there” from “here” for the time being.
