One of our absolute FAVORITE events of the year is almost here, and we can’t wait to see everyone!

Join HDOG & Awakening Coffee for our annual TRUNK OR TREAT!

We’re expecting LOTS of kids, lots of costumes, lots of candy and a whole lot of fun. ❤️

Bring the kids, dress them up, grab your candy buckets and come spend the evening with us. This is always such a fun community night and truly one of the events we look forward to most every year!

🚗 VENDORS / TRUNKS: Setup begins at 3:00 PM. Please be ready for the kids at 4:00 — we expect a great turnout!

That’s a wrap on our night events for the season! 🍂

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out this year, supported our food trucks, grabbed a drink, brought your friends and family, and spent your evenings with us. ❤️

We’re officially taking a break from night events for the winter, and we’ll be back in March!

But here’s the thing…

Night events at Awakening are going to look VERY different next year. 👀

We’ve been listening, dreaming, and making some changes — and we’re shaking things up in a pretty big way.

We’re not telling you what’s coming just yet. 😉
You’ll have to wait a little longer for that.

But we can tell you this: 2027 nights at Awakening won’t look like 2026 nights at Awakening.

Stay tuned. We think you’re going to like what’s coming. 🖤

This morning I woke up to the news that a very good friend of mine is closing his tap house on Wednesday. A beautiful place, with one of the most incredible outdoor spaces I’ve ever seen.

Then I read about more coffee shops closing.

And I just keep thinking: look around.

Really look around at what is happening to small businesses.

We all say we love our local coffee shops, restaurants, tap houses and little neighborhood businesses. We say we don’t want our communities to become nothing but chains and corporations.

But loving small businesses takes more than saying it.

It takes action.

It means thinking about where we spend our dollars.

Think about the businesses sponsoring your kid’s softball team. Donating to the high school auction. Giving gift cards for fundraisers. Supporting the Humane Society. Helping a family that had a tragedy. Donating food, coffee, space, money or time when someone in the community asks.

Those are very often your locally owned businesses.

And here’s the thing — those businesses don’t have millions of dollars behind them. They’re paying rent, payroll, insurance, utilities, food costs and every other expense while trying to keep their doors open and still saying yes when their community asks for help.

This isn’t about feeling guilty for buying a coffee somewhere or telling anyone where they have to spend their money.

It’s simply asking people to become more aware of where their dollars go.

Because we can’t keep saying we want vibrant communities filled with independent businesses while watching those businesses disappear one by one.

If we want them here, we have to use them.

Spend intentionally. Spend locally when you can. Support the businesses that support your community.

Because someday we may look around and realize the places we loved are gone.

And by then, it’s too late.

☕️ A little update to our hours at Awakening Coffee & Taphouse

Over the past several weeks, we gave being open on Mondays and Tuesdays a try. After looking closely at the numbers, the amount of business on those two days simply doesn’t justify the cost of keeping the shop open.

As a small, locally owned business, sometimes we have to try something, see how it works, and make adjustments. Going back to a five-day schedule allows us to keep things manageable, control our operating costs, and focus our time and energy on the days our customers are using us most.

Effective immediately, our regular hours are:

Monday — CLOSED
Tuesday — CLOSED
Wednesday — 7:30 AM–1 PM
Thursday — 7:30 AM–1 PM
Friday — 7:30 AM–1 PM & 5–8 PM
Saturday — 7:30 AM–2 PM
Sunday — 7:30 AM–2 PM

🍻 Friday nights are staying!

We’ll continue our Friday night events, food trucks and live music throughout the season. Just a reminder that our food trucks take their normal winter break November through February, as they do every year. We’ll bring them back again when the season starts up!

Thank you for continuing to support our little neighborhood coffee shop & taphouse. Every cup of coffee, breakfast, lunch, b**r and Friday night visit helps support a locally owned small business, and we appreciate you. ❤️
