✨5 Facts about Oysters✨

🦪 An oyster will usually grow 1 inch every year. However, sometimes they’ll grow faster if they live in an area with high salinity (salt water).

🦪 An oyster becomes an adult when it turns one year old and can live as long as 20 years.

🦪 Every day, one oyster filters 50 gallons of water. They’re better water filters than Brita (by far!)

🦪 Oysters have a unique ability to change their look depending on their environmental conditions. This is known as having high phenotypic plasticity.

🦪 Some predators attack the oyster not to eat them but to capture their shells. Like the boring sponge will enter the shell, kill the animal and take over the shell as their home. (Prob just mad because it’s labeled “boring”).
