still gonna talk my s**t
because getting my s**t rocked

didn’t erase the woman I was before…

it just added another layer to her.

I used to think being tough meant
nobody could ever hurt me,

and now I know

somebody can hurt you badly
and still not
fu***ng break you.

I don’t need to spend the rest of my life
proving how tough I am,

I learned that lesson
in one of the ugliest ways possible.

Now strength looks more like

finding my way back to myself,
getting my softness back,
learning to feel safe again,

and refusing to
let what somebody else did to me
decide which parts of me

I get to keep.
