Indian Valley Brewing Company got its start six years ago when Joe and Matt Tachis got the bright idea to brew beer in the garage with their dad and brothers. Revising recipes, tweaking techniques, and drinking the results gave their regular weekend get-togethers renewed purpose and made things a little more exciting. For Joe and Matt, brewing quickly became more than a fun way to keep the family
fridges full of beer—it became their passion. Joe’s classic cars were soon sharing space in the garage at his Novato home with brewing equipment, and wrenching time was being split with brewing. Their hot rods got a little rougher, but the award-winning beer they were pumping out (and drinking) made the slightly rattier rides a worthy sacrifice to the beer gods. In 2016, Joe and Matt decided to go full-bore with brewing and they founded Indian Valley Brewing Company. All of the requisite permits are in, and they should have their first batch of Novato’s finest Nano-Brewery beer by January 2017.
