Happy Father's Day.
To the dads who raised an entire generation by saying:
"Money doesn't grow on trees."
"Quit crying or I'll give you something to cry about."
"Were you born in a barn?! Shut the damn door!"
"Go change the channel... the remote is you."
You didn't have Bluey. You had a recliner that nobody was allowed to touch.
You didn't text "On my way." You yelled, "GET IN THE TRUCK!" from the driveway.
Your love language was changing the oil, grilling meat until it was one degree away from charcoal, and making noises every time you stood up.
Half of us are still traumatized by hearing our full government name echo through the house.
The other half still instinctively turn the thermostat back to 68.
And to the dads who aren't with us anymore...
We still hear your jokes every time the tongs click twice before the burgers hit the grill. We still catch ourselves saying the same one-liners we'd swore we'd never use. Turns out... we became you.
Missed, remembered, and still teaching us lessons long after the smoke cleared.
Raise a cold one, burn a burger, tell a terrible joke, and hug your old man if you still can.
Happy Father's Day to every dad... the legends, the pain in our ass, and the reason we all inspect straps and say, "That ain't going anywhere." π»π₯
