Mocktail week continued! Last week we had the privilege of being part of the “Planting the Seed of Recovery” event at Merrimack College, where students were reminded that recovery is something that needs to be continually nurtured.

Our Watermelon Lime Spritzes and Zero-proof Palomas were big hits. And we loved getting to hang out with some really awesome students 💙💛.

Let’s talk mocktails! Last night our bride and groom wanted to offer something special to their guests who weren’t drinking alcohol—so The Getaway Bar became a mocktail truck for the evening. Here’s a look at what we served:

1-Spiced Pear Mockarita (N/A Tequila, Pear Juice, Lime Juice, Maple Syrup, N/A Bitters)

2-Strawberry Lemonade Sunrise—Lemonade, Sweet & Sour, Lime Juice, Strawberry Syrup

3-Honey, Yes I Dew—Honeydew Juice, Lime Juice, Hot Honey, Fresca, Tajin Rim

4-Raspberry Elderflower Spritz—Raspberry & Elderflower Syrup, Lemon Juice, Sparkling Water

5-Nitro Cold Brew—Cold Brew Coffee Infused with Nitrogen Gas

Taking a minute to introduce ourselves. We're Marilé (pronounced Mare-ih-lay) and Dave Borden, owners of The Getaway Bar.

We are full-time professionals, parents to two adult-ish kids, and lifelong lovers of a good party. When we host an event, we rarely settle for ordinary. (Renting a dance floor for our living room is never out of the question.)

It was that love of over-the-top celebrations that made us take notice when we first saw photos of a little Italian wine truck. We were instantly enamored.

So, instead of sitting back and enjoying our newly empty nest, in October 2025 we welcomed The Getaway Bar to our family.

We quickly fell in love with her—and with our respective roles. Dave is Head of Operations, Truck Maintenance, Kegging, Fixing Things & Streamlining Processes. And Marilé is Head of Sales, Marketing and Making Things Look Pretty.

Oh, and we both serve as Co-VPs of Drink Testing. (It's a tough job, but someone needs to do it 🍸.)

One of the best parts of this venture is getting to know so many new people. So go ahead, say hi in the comments. And if you're inspired, tell us a little bit about what brought you here!

"Our experience with The Getaway Bar was fantastic! They were responsive to special requests and made it really fun picking out the beverages and extra perks like decorations and stemware.
