AND; the BEST SPICY PICKLEBACK you will ever have! Legend has it that in 1942, five young soldiers about to leave to serve in World War II came into the bar for farewell drinks. Each of them placed a full can of beer on the wall, to be drunk upon their return. Only three of the young men came home. They drank the beers they had left on the wall and placed the three empty cans next to the two full ones in memory of their comrades. In 1970, Al Drew, former owner of the Watering Hole, began collecting beer cans, which he displayed on the walls of the bar along with the original five as a memorial to his fellow servicemen of WWII. In 1989, the Watering Hole and beer can collection was sold to Gary Kelley, and then to Jim and Colleen McGorry in 1992.
