I tried to share the comment I made about today's MassLive article about Hunt and Gather. It doesn't seem to be loading properly. The Gazette article in August that misrepresented my comments about factors affecting business in Northampton keeps getting quoted. I feel like it defames me and the restaurant.

This will be the last night of ConVino Wine Bar. We are so grateful for all of you who have loved the wine, the food, the staff, the space, the music selection and decibel level, the bathroom tiles, the patio, the dog-friendliness.

I want to thank the investors, who took a chance on a restaurant. We almost made it.

I want to thank my staff current and past. Franchesca, Liz, Amanda, Chris, Konrad, Tony, Spenser, Camille, other Amanda, Elliot, Alyssa, Shai, Patches, Mikey, Steven, Julian, Julia, Gwen, Renée - thanks for all the efforts you poured into ConVino to shape it into what it is. And thanks to all the ones that contributed to my knowledge of and bewilderment by how humans behave in the workplace. I will be so much better at interviewing people and especially checking their references going forward.

We are trying to run out of food and wine today, so we may be out of your usual, but come help us finish up what's left. We have Tony to serenade us one last time from 6pm - 8pm.

I am sure many of you have heard or seen the news. The Gazette completely mischaracterized what I was trying to say about the current difficult business situation in Northampton, and I did not, actually, talk about ConVino's complicated reasons for closing. Our decision was heartbreaking for all of us here at ConVino. We look forward to seeing you over the next week or so.

We're not doing a pairing special this week, But we do have Lamb Poutine!

I was in South Carolina for 2 days this week, eating Greek food with my Greek family. Didn't have any Southern food at all. On the plane coming back I was thinking about what we would do for the pairing special, and all I could think of was Ribs.

We have Pimentòn rubbed Pork Spare Ribs this week, with Potato Salad, Cole Slaw and Bean, Corn, & Tomato Salad.

We paired it with a Sangiovese Rosé from Fattoria Corzano e Paterno. It cuts the fat of the ribs, brings out the basil in the bean salad and plays so nicely with all the other elements.

Za'atar Chicken with Israeli Couscous Salad. Parsley, mint, lemon, tomato, eggplant, cucumber and preserved lemon vinaigrette. So tasty with the Tiberio Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo that we just got in today.

The notes of rhubarb, currants and other small red berries go beautifully with both the toasty sesame of the za'atar and freshness of the salad veg. It's a dark rosé or a light red. Either way, it's served chilled.

A perfect way to recharge on a summer evening!

It's Tomato season, and the local Corn is starting to come it. We have a special flatbread this week with Heirloom Tomato, Corn, Pecorino and Basil.

The A/C is on and it's a lovely 74° inside at ConVino. Just sayin'.

The weekend pairing special this week is Cobb Salad. Light, cool, delicious. We've paired it with the new Verdicchio we just got in from Azienda Santa Barbara. The crisp acidity counterbalances the bacon and avocado so nicely.

Northampton has 3 days of "excessive heat" on tap starting tomorrow. ConVino has 4 cold beers on tap, and a bunch of cooling whites, rosés and sparklers ready to pour. Come in to our conditioned air and cool off.

We also have a Gallette de Courgette, as a pre-Bastille Day Special. It happens to go with Rosé really well.
