What's so special about the Freeport Restaurant? For generations, families have been flocking to the Freeport Restaurant. It's hard to say which is more popular -- the perch and prime rib dinners, sandwiches with homemade ham, sausage and bacon or breakfast with plate-sized pancakes and saucer-sized sausage patties. A nautical theme floats throughout the Freeport's bar and two dining areas. It all

started when the bar's walls were finished with old barn boards. The wide wooden planks reminded customers of a ship. Over the years, everyone from family to customers have contributed to the décor. The Freeport Restaurant was established in 1976. Our third generation restaurant has maintained our high standard of quality and excellence for over the years and continues to provide the local community with the best in house cook to order meals. With our in house smoker, enjoy the finest smoked ham, bacon and homemade sausage. Our ham and bacon is smoked daily in our own smoker, and we make our own sweet, hot, or country patty sausage.

Red Letter Hospitality (RLH) has acquired the Freeport.

Freeport, an iconic restaurant near Lake Erie owned by the Holdsworth family, became widely known during its 45 years in business for house-made sausages, homestyle food and family friendly atmosphere "This is an outstanding restaurant and we are thrilled to keep the Holdsworth family legacy not only intact, but propel it into the future," said Billy Lewis, owner of Red Letter Hospitality, who began frequenting Freeport in the 1970s with his grandparents.

"This is so special for me," Lewis added. "I've been a loyal customer since I was a kid, my children grew up on Freeport breakfasts and sausage dinners and my parents have had a
standing Saturday morning breakfast date with friends there for decades.

Our entire family is excited about this opportunity."
Freeport owners Jerry and Judy Holdsworth, who made the decision to retire and close the restaurant in an announcement on Facebook Jan. 6 said they are delighted with the Lewis
family taking over the business. "We've known them for many years," said the Holdsworth’s. "Freeport will be well cared for. They have a great track record with their other restaurants."
Lewis said he appreciates how excited people are for the re-opening of Freeport, but he said no timeline has been set. Stay tuned on Facebook for updates as the restaurant prepares for its
next chapter.

Red Letter Hospitality is a family-owned business located in North East, Pa. Other RLH managed restaurants include The Skunk and Goat Tavern (North East), Molly Brannigan's (downtown Erie), The Cork 1794 (Millcreek) as well as three CoreLife Eateries in Ohio.

After forty five years of serving the North East community and beyond, Freeport Restaurant is closing its doors.

Without the support of all our customers and having the most valued staff throughout the years, our success would not have been possible.

To all of you, we give our profound gratitude.
The memories and friendships are immeasurable.

God Bless you all.
