For us, there are wines you taste — and then there are wines that *transport you.* >> Standing on a fog-swept ridge above a river gorge, 4 miles from the Pacific, feeling the cold ocean air envelope you like a stealthy shroud- that is the terroir Vanessa Wong farms and the story she pours into every bottle: "You can read about terroir — but here you can feel it. As the late afternoon passes into evening, the chilly fog envelops you like a stealthy shroud. It is very visceral."
— VANESSA WONG, PEAY VINEYARDS
PEAY Vineyards is a true gem of the Grassroots Portfolio & we are THRILLED to sit alongside the team at Honey Suckle Rose tomorrow night as these incredible wines & this amazing winemaker take center stage. Join us tomorrow evening, June 3 for a dinner you will not soon forget. A few tickets remain & they can be purchased at the link in our bio… Don’t miss this one, yall!
THE VINEYARD
53 acres on a hilltop above a river gorge in Annapolis, far northwestern Sonoma Coast — one of California's coldest, most extreme growing sites. Ocean winds, Kimmeridgian-era marine soils, and a chilly inversion layer create wines of crystalline precision and rare minerality. Sea Ranch is their nearest neighbor.
HER JOURNEY:
UC Davis viticulture degree. Bordeaux studies. Stints at Château Lafite-Rothschild and Domaine Jean Gros in Burgundy. Then head winemaker at Peter Michael. A world-class résumé before Peay ever existed.
A FAMILY AFFAIR:
Husband Nick grows the vines alongside Vanessa. Brother-in-law Andy runs the business. This is a first-generation family winery built entirely from love, risk, and belief in a place most people hadn't heard of.
ORGANIC FARMING
Certified organic. Fish-friendly farming. Integrated pest management. Solar-powered winery. Bio-diesel at the vineyard. The health of the land is non-negotiable — it dictates everything.
HER WINEMAKING MARK
Native yeast fermentation. Unfined, unfiltered. Hand-harvested. Vanessa's philosophy: coax, never force. Elegance, intensity, nuance — never heavy, never obvious. The land does the talking.
