During the Revolutionary War, Israel Putnam once found himself trapped and surrounded by British troops near a church in Connecticut.

Rather than surrender, Putnam reportedly mounted his horse and charged full speed down a steep flight of stone church steps into the night.

The British soldiers refused to follow.
Some men retreat carefully.
Others become legends.

Fun fact:
George Washington wasn’t just the first President of the United States.

By 1799, he also operated one of the largest whiskey distilleries in America.
America was built on bold ideas, stubborn people, and a tremendous amount of booze.

Before America had action movies, it had Israel Putnam.

According to legend, a Connecticut town was being terrorized by a massive wolf. Putnam volunteered to handle it personally.
Armed with only a torch and a musket, he crawled into the wolf’s cave alone and killed it, earning him the nickname “Old Wolf Put.”

Completely legendary behavior.
