Post Bar Exam Advice from Hugh Reed/ReedBarReview.com

What a relief! The bar exam is over and it’s time to step back and recapture some time to spend on things we really like such as time with family and friends.

Obviously, many of us are wondering how we performed and what we could have done differently (BTW, I’ve taken the last two bar exams, my 35th and 36th, and I have those same thoughts! Indeed, I’m in the process of researching concepts that I didn’t completely understand to make sure we incorporate those concepts into our bar review materials.)

However, instead of beating yourself up and driving yourself (and those around you) crazy, simply resign yourself to the fact that you did your best and now it’s out of your hands. It’s often said, waiting for the results is probably the hardest part of the bar exam.

For those who were enrolled in the Reed Bar Review in preparation for the July 2025 bar exam, feel free to schedule yourself with me for an after-action review. Obviously we cannot discuss/divulge specific questions because of the NCBE’s copyright policies but I can certainly provide you feedback on any specific concepts you’d like to discuss. Please send me your questions before scheduling yourself.

For those who were not enrolled in one of our tutoring courses, feel free to call me for any general guidance; if I’m unavailable, please leave your contact information and some dates/times when it’s convenient for you to talk. Having worked for the largest traditional bar review for 17 years and now with some 40 years of experience tutoring students, I’d be happy to give you an educated opinion and/or advice.

IT'S NOT TO LATE TO SUPPLEMENT YOUR STUDIES WITH TUTORING: I’ve taken well over 30 bar exams, was the former Director of BarBri in Texas, and Michigan, and have been tutoring candidates for over 40 years. (My bio is attached.) Many TSU candidates’ testimonials are posted on our website.

Please go to our website, choose the state of where you are taking the bar, and then choose a free Bar Exam Primer – this will allow us to open all pertinent files for you.

Once you do that, please let me know a good time to talk so we can agree on how to proceed. I recommend you sending me your BarBri schedule so we can reinforce some things you’ve already studied. My goal is to simplify your studies, not to add to them, by providing you memory devices of often-tested concepts and make sure you understand how to get the points you need to pass.

We will provide diagnostic testing to ID those topics/sub-topics that need to be reinforced, followed by a kinesthetic approach to learning, and also work on essay writing styles; our students’ essays are often published by Law Examiners on how to write essays.

Next Gen Bar Exam: First Jurisdictions Announce Plans to Adopt NextGen Bar Exam Five jurisdictions are the first to announce that they intend to administer a new bar exam, which will replace the licensure test currently given to aspiring attorneys across the US. Bar admission agencies in Maryland, Missouri, and Oregon intend to first administer the NextGen bar exam in July 2026. Wyoming intends to first administer the exam in July 2027. Connecticut has not yet finalized its first administration date.
