The Firehouse Theater

The Firehouse Theater This intimate theater is the home of RI's most award-winning comedy show located off Broadway in Newport. The Firehouse is available for private events.

The Bit Players present live, entirely improvised shows every Fri & Sat at 8pm all year. Always BYOB. The Firehouse Theater was converted into a fully functioning theater in 1999 featuring original plays as well as classics. It became exclusively a comedy house in 2009. The building was built in 1895, designed by John Champlin Mason and was used as an actual Firehouse until the 1920s. It has been

used as many things between then and 1999 such as a bus terminal, union hall, and Laundromat. The Firehouse Theater is an intimate theater, seating 75 people. It is handicap accessible. Guests are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as many of our shows sell out. Every show at teh Firehouse is BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze). We are happy to provide our guests with cups, ice, bottle openers, cork screws, water, soft drinks, and tea all free with the price of admission. The space is available to rent for private events and other live performances. Contact us today. Visit www.firehousetheater.org for more info.
