Another full day serving families. Today we visited four cemeteries adding death dates to existing memorials — helping families complete and preserve their loved ones’ monuments with care and respect.

To finish out the day, we received another shipment of monuments as we continue preparing upcoming memorials for families throughout the region.

Spring is definitely here and so are we! Our shop hours are Monday- Friday 8-4, and Saturdays by appointment. Always give us a call first though because we may be out in a cemetery. Our inventory is pretty well stocked, but if you have something in mind and you don’t see it, just ask and we are happy to help you with your needs. We just received some beautiful new slants as well.

Stevens Monuments is looking for a hardworking, dependable individual to join our team as a Cemetery Technician.

What You’ll Do:
• Work outdoors restoring and maintaining cemetery monuments
• Travel to job sites throughout the region
• Occasional overnight stays required

Requirements:
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions

Position Details:
• Seasonal (April – November)
• Competitive pay based on experience

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, being outside, and taking pride in meaningful craftsmanship.

Gravestones haven’t always said what they say today.
If you watch this reel, you’ll notice something surprising…
Many ancient and early American stones actually listed the cause of death.

“Taken by the fever.”
“Lost at sea.”
“Died in battle.”

At one time, gravestones were almost like public records — telling the story of how someone’s life ended.

Today, memorials focus much more on who someone was rather than how they died. We see words like Beloved Mother, Devoted Husband, Faithful Friend.

The cause of death can still be added — families are able to personalize nearly anything — but it almost never is.

It’s interesting how memorials have evolved from recording a death… to celebrating a life.

History really is written in stone.
