Update Time!
Unfortunately we have been ready to open for going on 4 months now, but find ourselves in a unique situation involving the city. The Newark Fire Department refuses to come in and perform our opening inspection, due to long since fixed violations on the Downtown Arcade Center as a whole.
The NFD have been refusing to reinspect for over a year, which allows the daily fines placed on the buildings owner to continue with no end. Since we found ourselves in the middle of this feud, that has nothing to do with actual safety, they will not permit us to open. We found out that this extremely unique situation has no checks or balances even at a state level, as a city withholding routine safety checks is essentially unheard of.
City officials have been pressuring us to relocate, assuring they would have no issues with us if we were to rent space from any other property owner. A portion of the shops inside the Arcade Center are not owned by the owner of our space;
those businesses are allowed to operate despite the building being an alleged hazard. We are trying to hang tight and get this issue resolved, but current city management seems dead set on ruining the fun. We ask everyone for patience, and to stand with us, so Newark can start to have the unique downtown entertainment it deserves! Thanks for reading :)
