New York Vintners

New York Vintners America's Greatest Wine Club, Rare Wine Bar, Wine Educator and Preeminent Retailer. We post ballers: both producers and bottles.

New York Vintners has both a conspicuous passion for the classic wines of Europe and a loyalty to quality wines from the world’s other notable regions. No matter if you’re looking for everyday drinking wines, undiscovered specialties

, or rare trophy vintages, New York Vintners’ warm, enthusiastic approach to wine will suit your tastes.

Sometimes NYC remembers what it was built for.

On Saturday night the cellar at NYV and Leo’s art studio became a single element, and in that room we celebrated Marlon James and the launch of The Disappearers, his haunting, torrential new novel from Riverhead Books. The New York Times wrote ‘This Masterpiece Is the Novel of the Decade, if Not the Century.’ In person, Marlon is somehow even better.

Salman Rushdie told stories. Mary Karr held court. Writers, painters, editors, and beautiful troublemakers drank and argued and danced under the art until the night gave out — and nobody wanted to be the one who left first.

There was wine, there were stories, there was magic.

What makes NYV unique is the ability to explore new wines, regions, producers, trends, or pretty much anything we want to do with true oenophiles. We are the James Beard House for wine.  Another fantastic night exploring the world-class wines of LUIS PATO with the encyclopedic mind of Lewis Kopman. Bairrada, Portugal is one of the most underrated regions in the wineoverse and Baga is a royal variety, every bit as exciting as Nebbiolo. A killer table of wine lovers at DA CLUB. Great stuff.

The greatest high school basketball team in history is without question the 1981 - 1983 Poets from Laurence Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland coached by Bob Wade.

The 1982 Poets squad went 29-0 and the 1983 team went 31-0. 1982 graduated Gary Graham who played at UNLV (ranked #1 nationally) and the great David Wingate who won a national at Georgetown before embarking on a 15-year career NBA career. The 1983 squad graduated Reggie Williams, the late great Reggie Lewis, and of course, Muggsy Bogues.

Reggie Williams was national high school player of the year in 1983 and went on to lead Georgetown to a national championship while also earning Big East player of the year and consensus first team All-American for 'Reggie and the Miracles' during his collegiate career. Williams spent 10 years in the NBA.

Reggie Lewis, who tragically died on the court at 27 years old, went to Northeastern University in Boston and is still the all-time leading scorer and was 3 x ECAC North Player of the Year. Drafted in the first round by the Boston Celtics, Lewis became an NBA All-Star and was on the verge of superstardom before he passed away. He played 6 seasons in the NBA.

Tyrone Curtis ‘Muggsy’ Bogues, standing a gigantic 5ft 3in, is the smallest player in NBA history and played an astonishing 14 seasons in DA LEAGUE. Muggsy attended Wake Forest University winning the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award and left college as the ACC career leader in steals and assists.

That’s 45 combined seasons in the NBA from one team, with Lewis passing away at 27 BEFORE his prime.

DA CLUB honors the legacy of these Maryland LEGENDS with the ultra-private MUGGSY room featuring a 5’3” table and custom Joseph & Curtis wine cellar.

One very special delivery — 27 Liters, 36 bottles worth, of one of the greatest Sangiovese, the one wine, of this century, made by my old friends, the Manetti family.

Owned by one of America's great Flaccianello lovers — at DA CLUB.
