It is with gratefulness and sadness that we announce our last evening of service. SakaMai will be closing its doors on August 20th, 2023.
SakaMai opened its doors on December 12th, 2012 and has become a regular destination for many who wanted a place to enjoy elevated modern Japanese food surrounded by a vast selection of sake and shochu. The dishes created by paired with our sake selection made every moment an unforgettable experience. We have been so lucky to create such a special space in the LES for the past 10+ years.
SakaMai, 酒舞, translates “sake and dance” while the word “sakamai” also means sake rice. Over the years, we have been blessed with visits from legendary sake brewers from all over Japan. SakaMai became the spot for sake lovers to share their passion.
We take this opportunity to give our heartfelt gratitude to the talented team at SakaMai and all the individuals who have unconditionally supported us in our mission to spread the love of Japanese cuisine and sake to our community in New York City.
A sincere thank you to all of our guests, our regulars and out of town repeat visitors for supporting us over the years, even through the pandemic. It has been a pleasure serving you, your friends and family. We hope the memories we have created together here will continue to inspire our journey to build more connections through sake and food!
