Located squarely on Houston and Avenue A, the Lower East Side's most pivotal intersection, Boulton & Watt is a tribute to the ingenuity and determination of the industrial age. Named after a manufacturing firm that made essential steam engine advancements, the gastropub is outfitted with reclaimed steel and wood decor, plush bar seating and fixtures controlled by clever pulley and crank systems. T

he large windows gaze out on the bustling street, a great accompaniment to ambience that, according to Refinery29, "makes you want to sit, and stay, and order, annnnnd drink for hours on end." The kitchen offers a robust selection of bar snacks and comfort food including a braised lamb cassoulet, Moroccan sliced salmon and duck confit carbonara. A similarly indulgent brunch menu that features brioche french toast and an omelet stuffed with lamb and goat cheese. Specialty cocktails are in force, including The Mexican Revolver that blends jalapeno-infused tequila with prosecco and The Gymnast made with Zacapa 23 Year aged whiskey. The beer selection has 7 draughts that heavily feature local breweries, and the restaurant also has a wide variety of wines each available by glass, carafe and bottle. Chef David Rotter also showcases his passion for brining, offering jars of his own pickled cherries, Brussels sprouts, pineapples and more.
