Tap a Keg is undeniably a dive, but it's got more character than the neon beer signs on display there. The walls are covered with eccentric knick-knacks and cartoons; R&B classics rule the digital jukebox. The bartenders seem to be enjoying their jobs and the neighborhood regulars—who milk the seven-hour happy hour—all seem to be on intimate terms. In fact, Tap a Keg feels a little like a clubhouse, with metal chairs, linoleum floors, low ceilings and plenty of hands-on entertainment provided by a pool table, darts, video games and three TVs. On weekends, the place can get a little rowdy, with college-age drinkers doing just what the name demands. — Shana Liebman
