One of the dining highlights of our Japan trip was with Yoshio-San and Chou-San (sorry if we misspelled!). A brother and sister team who have preserved the flavor of their parents’ okonomiya while creating brilliant new dishes for their set menu and pairing it all with the best natural Japanese wine, sake, and liquor. The warmth and generosity of the hosts create a friendly atmosphere that encourages conversation across tables and languages. We absolutely loved everything from sitting at the griddle bar to drinking every natural wine all from Japan and making new friends. Can’t wait to go back and hopefully with a bottle of our first wine!

For those that don’t know, okonomiya is a cross between and omelette and a crepe often topped with various bold sauces and bonito flakes— most often a street food but made with such care here that it becomes an event.
