Friends, Family, Staten Island - it is with the heaviest of hearts that I announce - Bin 5’s last day of service will be Sunday, November 28th, 2021. I have been working at Bin 5 since its inception in 2011. I grew up in that building - in that garden - and behind that bar. I met my wife there. I held my mother’s repast there. I drank, fought, cried, celebrated, laughed, loved and recovered. We mixed the finest cocktails, poured the most epic wines, and served the finest ingredients that Staten Island had ever seen, tasted, or heard of. This was all the result of one thing - and that is love. Love is doing courage in the presence of fear. And it was always scary. Every second of every day of my life has been terrifying for almost 7 years. But away we poured and away we went - dazzling customers, making new friends and giving our hearts to our community - to anyone who would dance and play and share with us, the love of beautiful food and drink. It matters to do your best - and each of us knows what that is - deep inside. Bin 5 was an institution - built by Staten Islanders, with Staten Islanders, for Staten Islanders - to create an experience that stretched what food and drink could be on the forgotten borough. We are unfortunately unable to continue our mission within the pandemic and post-pandemic parameters. I would like to thank God for blessing me each and every day - my wife, Yogi, for putting up with my crazy, my sister, Nicole, for being by my side for so many years on the floor, my cousin Roseann, my partner Gino, my bartender Chris, the entire staff - Alejandro, Edwin & Carlos, my father, Danny Sr., and my mother, Maryann in heaven. Most of all - Thank You Staten Island. Fine dining does work here. We may get a bad rep, but there are an astounding number of you who care very deeply. We will be serving craft cocktails, natural wine, and thoughtful dishes with careful service until our closing date. Peace and love to all. See you on the next journey.
