Never picked up a calligraphy pen before? Perfect. Join us Mon, Oct 12 at 2pm for a relaxed, beginner-friendly afternoon of sipping, scripting, and learning something new. 🖋️

Join Amanda Borne from “Sip & Script” - she’ll start with the basics and guide you step-by-step through modern calligraphy.
Already tried calligraphy? Come brush up your skills and enjoy a fresh start with supplies from our beginner kit!

Meet your instructor, Amanda:
Amanda is an accomplished hand lettering artist skilled in Copperplate, Spencerian, Engrosser’s Script, Modern Calligraphy, Foundational, Uncial, Gothicized Italic, and Blackletter. She is a member of IAMPETH (International Association of Master Penman, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting) and the Society of Scribes, and is ACICP Certified to teach American Cursive to children and adults. Her work has been featured everywhere from wedding invitations and monograms to menus, engraving, book inscriptions, corporate events, and private workshops. Amanda has taught students across the country and remotely worldwide, and has led Round Robin sessions at the annual IAMPETH Conference.

🎭✨ Why does the WBC have such a loyal fanbase of stars… ✨🎭

It all starts with Manhattan Plaza in 1977. That’s the big building we’re in. If you didn’t know, it was the first government-subsidized housing project catering to those in the performing arts! Under its Section 8 federal funding, it is mandated to maintain 70% of the tenants from the performing arts fields. 🎭✌️

Needless to say, as the first commercial tenants of Manhattan Plaza, we’ve had some pretty incredible neighbors over the years.

🎹 We’ve fed a growing Alicia Keys
🎬 Spent holidays with Timothée Chalamet and his fam
📝 Watched Tennessee Williams, Larry David, and Terrence McNally jot down ideas on napkins
🌟 We cheered on Angela Lansbury, Christian Slater, and Giancarlo Esposito as they hit the big time!

🚨 And don’t forget that young security guard…Samuel L Jackson. (Google why he got fired!)

It’s been a thrilling ride, and we can’t wait to see the next generation of artists who will call this iconic address home.
