In February 2013 a group of line dancers and instructors from all over Long Island came together to raise money for Relay for Life. Their pilot fundraising program called Cowboy up for a Cure was created to help raise money, learning how to Country Line Dance. During the planning and organizing of this event, the instructors began to share their knowledge of different dances , experiences and passion for the art of line dancing. From these weekly meetings a bond was formed and an idea percolated. It was obvious to this group that there were a few issues at hand. There were no current options for the under 21 crowd to learn how to line dance and there wasn't any sort of communication throughout the Island about dances being taught. This group of 5 country enthusiasts took it upon themselves to form The Boot Kickers with the sole purpose of unifying the Country scene one sailor step at a time.
