«Если будет лень читать — там всюду картинки»: Михаил Шемякин представил в Нью-Йорке книгу о жизни до эмиграции

Презентация книги My Life: Before Exile прошла в манхэттенском ресторане «Русский самовар». Гости говорили: «Легендарный "Самовар", легендарный художник». И все это так, — рассказывает арт-директор InterArt Gallery Светлана Вайс в своей колонке для RTVI.US

Судьба мэтра была непростой: на его долю пришлись тяжелые послевоенные советские годы. Но главное — он никогда не искал легких путей. Не ищет он их и сегодня: несмотря на заслуженную славу и финансовую стабильность, его творчество по-прежнему волнует и заставляет спорить. А его книга — это не просто мемуары, а настоящий приключенческий роман. Интересны и история семьи художника, послевоенный Советский Союз и послевоенная Германия, где прошла часть его детства.

«Если совсем будет лень читать — там всюду картинки. Это приблизительно как комикс: вы увидите меня в детстве, увидите, как я шкодил. И что малопонятно американскому и западноевропейскому читателю — это рисунки из сумасшедшего дома, куда я был посажен на принудительное лечение», — говорит сам автор.

Презентация в легендарном «Русском самоваре» прошла в теплой атмосфере, делится Светлана Вайс. Читали стихи. Говорили без умолку, как старые друзья. Потом долго стояли в шумной очереди за автографом. И, как это часто бывает, никто не хотел расходиться.
