Trattoria Toscana, Greenwich Village, NYC

Trattoria Toscana, Greenwich Village, NYC Trattoria Toscana, is the latest creation of Raimondo Abreu and his son, Fausto Enrique Abreu. Viva Firenze!

Raimondo, recognized chef who previously founded Il Ponte Vecchio, Zinno, and Cent' Anni in Greenwich Village, which received national acclaim. Back when Batali was still an orange-clogged upstart, there was restaurateur Raimondo Abreu, whom Villagers relied on for old-school comfort at Il Ponte Vecchio, Zinno, and Cent'Anni for the last 40 yrs. Starting in 2012, judging from all the handshakes an

A reminder of how greatly Greenwich Village has changed and the lost of the "old" Italian neighborhood... Even mentions the great Cent' Anni restaurant my father owned in the glorious 80s to 90s.

I know, everyone is excited about Hudson Yards. It’s glass, steel, and chrome. It’s so ugly it’s mind blowing. A whole new futuristic neighborhood with no ties to the past has ris…

New York's small businesses have been dropping like flies. We are losing the city block by block.

Trattoria Toscana Owners and Management is very sorry to inform our loyal patrons, customers and friends that the restaurant has been temporarily closed for the past 3 weeks and continues to have unfortunate delays in re-opening the restaurant due to several issues, stemming with the landlord and the NYS Dept. of Consumer Affairs. As soon as these issues are resolved, then we'll be re-opening the restaurant for business.

We would like to extend our gratitude & appreciation to our patrons and customers who continue to support us and for their understanding in this tormented business period... Salute!

The problem is that the landlords (wolf of commercial real estate) have become too greedy and rents are way too high for restaurateurs to make a decent profit, yet alone keep up with operating costs... This landlord greed is killing small business... Also, factor in the fact that for some restaurants losing their sidewalk café license renewals due to zoning regulations by the city's Department of Consumer Affairs have negatively impacted small businesses... Just a sad & troublesome state of affairs!!!

The warm days of spring are upon us, when just about every café that can claim significant street frontage in certain neighborhoods acquires a permit and spills tables onto...

Hope this glimpse will bring awareness to the unique character these small mom-and-pop businesses add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City and the sense of community they provide... Also please keep supporting small businesses so that they will continue to survive for many more years.
