Who would have thought a little tavern days from closure 17 years ago would now be listed among the top 100 small businesses in America?

This wouldn’t be possible without the entire customer community!

The Neirs ambassadors, regulars, volunteers, strategic partners, current and former staff. Everyone contributed to get to this point on the road to 200.

It’s not over yet and we have more obstacles to overcome but if you stick with me and this amazing tavern I truly believe our community can conquer all.

It’s often advertised people should support local businesses and shop local.

On an early Saturday morning Neir’s Ambassador Liam Castro invited Neir’s Tavern supporters to show there are more than one way to support local businesses. He organized another Amazing Neir’s Tavern Halloween decoration party.

This was more than decorating one of America’s oldest community taverns, it was creating a sense of community in a time it’s needed most. IRL.

A sense of belonging around a historic tavern that almost closed. A reminder we all can do something.

Although it’s super important people come here for lunch and dinner so we can reach 200 years in 2029, this was a priceless action showing action speaks volume.

Thank you Liam, Neir’s Ambassadors and all the volunteers! I hope everyone made some great friends and thank you for your contributions towards the NEIR’S ROAD TO 200 Journey.

Another example of COMMUNITY CONQUERS ALL!!

Recently the Emmy-Award winning NEWS12 TV show “Haunted Tri-State” discovered paranormal activities at Historic Neir’s Tavern, making this an extra-special Annual Halloween Karaoke Costume Party! October 31st Starting 8p!! (Prizes for the Top 3 Costumes)

Plus during the day at 12pm will be a special Halloween presentation by Ed Wendell of Woodhaven Cultural and Historical Society.

Then 2p-4p we have Jazz Brunch, as we do every Saturday!

Don’t forget to stop by all day with the kids to pick up free Halloween Candy!

And adults can buy a Halloween drink 😉 .

This Tuesday, Oct 20th, at 6pm, NEW YORK BASKETBALL IS BACK at Neir's Tavern!! Join us for a watch party for the ages as we celebrate our world champions!

The party starts at 6pm, when we'll watch highlights of the championship playoff run. Then the show kicks off at 6:30pm with the ring ceremony and an in-house ch*****ne toast!

I was packing up my laptop to rush out of Neir’s when someone called across the dining room:

“Are you the owner?”

I left my bag and walked over to our Mae West booth. That’s where I met Claire and her husband, Tom.

Claire told me she owns Old Town Bar, which has been open since 1892. She’d visited Neir’s several times hoping to catch me, and we finally connected.

We talked about keeping two places that opened in the 1800s going. She said owning their building was what allowed Old Town Bar to survive COVID.

Neir’s doesn’t own its building. I’ve been trying, but we don’t make enough profit to make it happen yet. I’m still not giving up.

We took this photo together, and I promised to visit her place. Maybe we’ll bring some Neir’s Ambassadors and supporters along for a little road trip!

I almost rushed past this conversation. I’m glad Claire stopped me.
