A magnet for artists....Here are more items from my storage room. All kinds of creative people were attracted to Life Cafe and the East Village. In 1989, a painter stood across the street from Life Cafe along Tompkins Square Park and painted this street scene from the corner of 10th St. and Ave. B. I have Google Alert working for mentions of Life Cafe. Personally, for awhile I'd been on a kind of high alert since the physical "death" of Life Cafe EV and 983. Imagine my surprise when a link to this came up! http://deathcafe.com. My take? Let life go on and let it go gloriously because eventually it ends. Long live Life Cafe.

At a Death Cafe people gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.
