NYC musicians, budding recording engineers, producers, and professionals looking for time up close with a real console, racks of outboard gear, and a 900sq/ft state-of-the-art studio with amps, mics, guitars galore, and a 6ft. Baldwin grand piano- this message is for you!
Starting the second weekend of October, and every 2nd and 4th weekend following, we’ll be offering weekend engineering classes: Saturday and Sunday, 11am-7pm.
We aim to send you home having learned A LOT, so space is very limited. 4 spots per weekend. The first two classes (October) will cost you a whopping $200. For 16 hours+ in the studio, behind the console, touching the faders, k***s, and computer. This will not be your typical 10+ person course, where the only equipment you’ll ever touch is a pen and paper.
This class is PERFECT for:
- Beginners who need a little kick to get over the steep initial learning curve.
- Musicians. The single best thing you can do for your career is learn how to make your own professional demos, and even your own records - at home. A computer, a mic, and another ~$500 of misc. gear and you have everything you need.
- Producers. Can you run your own sessions? Or do you have to find an engineer? Learning how to engineer is going to up your clout, engender more trust from your clients, save money, and get you much further inside the music creation process. You will come out of this course with the confidence to pitch artists that you’re the person to guide their creative future.
- Semi pros and Pros that just want some time behind the desk. Always happy to have more knowledge in the room. But no egos allowed!
- As we progress through the first couple months, and we start to see students that want to expand into composition, arranging, scoring, and writing for film/TV/commercials, we’ll be offering those courses as well. So keep eyes out for that!
A special note - there are a multitude of software programs that are now used in pro studios around the world. Pro Tools is the standard, yes, but largely because it’s been grandfathered in, even as newer (better) software has come into use. For these classes, we’ll be using Logic Pro X. This is the Mac standard platform, and it carries with it the same intuitive workflow that any Apple user already understands. You don’t need an Apple laptop to participate in this course AT ALL, but if you have one, please consider investing in Logic Pro X ($199), and bring your laptop. If you’re already using another software platform, that’s fine as well, we can work with you quickly as much of the workflows across these programs are the same.
