During the pandemic, I began selling Coquito. Every flavor I create is tied to a memory—moments from my childhood that left a mark on my heart. I’ve been making it, selling it, and delivering it every year since, pouring love into every bottle.
Now some 6 years later, who would’ve thought I’d be selected to participate in top 8 coquito of NYC Coquito throw down sponsored by BACARDÍ Ocho. I presented my pistachio, inspired by one of my favorite childhood memories. My dad used to take me to walk the boardwalk, let me ride one ride at Astroland—the Break Dancer—and then we’d end the night sharing pistachio ice cream in a waffle cone. That flavor represents joy, safety, and time spent with the people who shaped me.
Having my parents attend along with my brother and his wife, my coworkers, my friends, my dance community means more than I can put into words. This journey started in survival, grew into passion, and turned into purpose—I won People’s Choice! Collaboration is not competition I was grateful to be in the space with other people who thrive on intentional happiness for others …doing something small with a big heart really matters in the world we live in. So congrats to all the entries in the competition. We’re all winners! Lastly a big shout out to and Enrique my manager that allows me the freedom and supports all my crazy ideas.
Thank you for believing in me, for supporting me, and for allowing me to share my story with you—one Coquito at a time. Catch my Coco Rica A La Pista on So & So’s menu.
