Dan's Bar was established in 1960 by Dan and Jean Hartung.

They moved their family to New Trier, where Dan's quickly became a favorite local watering hole, a place for FRIENDS and SPORTS TEAMS to gather after a long day or a great game! In 1975, they added food into the mix, serving a staple of burgers and steaks. It was then that Dan's Bar became Dan's Bar & Grill! DAN[ette]
When it came time for Dan & Jean to step back a bit, their daughter, Danette, took over the reigns as the manager of Dan's. Without missing a beat, she's known for providing the same level of excellent service as her parents, and remains committed to making Dan's a great place for FRIENDS and FAMILY to gather! DAN[ielle]
In 2013, the third generation was welcomed into the fold. After completing CULINARY SCHOOL at Kendall College, Danette's daughter, Danielle Durow, joined Dan's as the Head Chef and Kitchen Manager. She immediately gained a loyal following with her famous Saturday Night Specials as well as her unique takes on classic food. Prior to attending Kendall, Danielle attended Boston College where she majored in marketing, and was a FOUR YEAR LETTER WINNER on the women's hockey team.

Things are moving along out here in New Trier. The water is back on and we are OPEN!

New Route to Dan’s:

Highway 50 is open to local traffic only, and that includes Dan’s! Please use caution, as the road is currently unstriped.

***Parking lot entrance: Our entrance is temporarily moved to the west side of our parking lot, just east of Hinton Avenue.***

Coming from Highway 61 / Miesville / Red Wing:
You can continue on Highway 50 to Dan’s. If you’d prefer to avoid Highway 50, take 190th to Highway 47, then Goodwin Avenue to Highway 50. This route is fully paved.

Coming from Hastings:
Take County Road 47 to Goodwin Avenue, then Highway 50 to Dan’s. Goodwin is closed between County Road 46 and 180th, so County Road 47 is the best route.

The construction crew is doing work on the water main tomorrow, Wednesday, September 9. With that, our water will be shut off, so we will be CLOSED all day. (We are OPEN today!)
If you plan on joining us later this week, and we hope you do, make sure you check our website for the most current detour routes, as they will most likely be changing.
