Well, amidst all the chaos, we neglected to mention that we made the list! Couldn't be more honored to be a part of this wonderful group of international bars and restaurants.

We'll be open on Friday, y'all! Hope to see you then.

In contrast to the destruction I've shared over the past few days, here are some pictures of the beauty and magic of the bayou. This morning, we helped Don clear a path so that he could fix his mom's roof in Pointe-aux-chenes. We then helped Ms. Melinda cleae her yard of all the roof and balcony debris. We then traversed over to Cocodrie, and finished up in Bayou Gauche. These are three places that have only had help from volunteers. If you have dropped off goods, or helped hands-on, you are making a difference. You are saving lives. You are bringing happiness and hope to this region.

Mr. looked too adorable with Thelma, Gavin, and Darlene to not take this picture. They are all residents of Bayou Gauche. Thelma is 82, has a pet alligator, and wants every patron of Manolito to know that they are always welcome to join her for drinks on the Bayou. She has the energy of a 25 year old.

The volunteers today worked their asses off, truly. We couldn't have asked for a better group of people to go down with. You are all fantastic. The Krewe of Clean Yards is back at it tomorrow!!!

There are far too many emotions happening for me to express. I went to Houma and saw some of the worse damage I've seen since Hurricane Wilma, and not even that compared to what was further South. Chauvin. Cocodrie. Montegut. Pointe-aux-chenes. And finally, I watched a sunset from my favorite Bayou... my escape whenever I wanted to get out of the city... Bayou Gauche. I don't know if some of these places will ever come back. It seems like a distant memory driving down that winding stretch of road, with moss almost sparkling in the sun's rays as it dangled in the breeze. Mother nature can be so beautiful, and also so utterly destructive.

The people of the bayou are so very humble. It was difficult to even get them to take water. Even people in tents living where their houses used to be were certain that someone down the road would need it more. Chauvin has some help from the national guard and their councilmembers. Pointe-au-chien tribe is 100% grassroots. Their hospitality was mind-blowing. Their faces lit up with smiles as soon as I pulled in front of their place. They didn't even know I had gas for them yet. We helped dismantle chief's house she grew up in. There are thousands of houses like this that need to be taken care of.

Cocodrie is devastated. People asked for so little. One man tried to stuff money in my pocket while I was putting gas in his car. He then showed me some shrimp he caught in a saucepan with a smile on his face. All of the houses in this area are uninsurable.

Before getting back on the 310, I cut over to Bayou Gauche and most of the houses were completely destroyed. That little strip was my favorite part of Louisiana. The only thing that is as beautiful is watching Zulu strut down Jackson Avenue on Mardi Gras day. I hope it can come back. The people seemed very doubtful, but were still smiling at me and happy I stopped to check in.

I need to take care of some admin for Manolito tomorrow and come up with a plan. I hope that this plan will involve getting the restaurant open but also organizing ways to help down the bayou for people who can't afford to donate. Being alive and learning compassion are all that matters. I love you all.

Slow return to normalcy. The majority of our staff is still without power, and everyone has evacuated. Everyone is safe. We are going to open for a few hours each day until things can get back to the way they were. Please respect the space. It's most-likely just going to be Konrad working solo. Come soak up some AC, drink water (with ice!), charge your phones, and enjoy each other's company. At the end of each shift, we will give away one bag of ice to each person who asks until it's gone. Once we can get more product in (and staff returns once it's safe for them to do so), we will get back to normal operations. For now, we're going to try and do what Manolito himself did best: Make everyone feel welcome.

CASH ONLY. TIPS APPRECIATED BUT NOT REQUIRED. IF YOU'RE LOW ON FUNDS, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT TIPPING.

Let's help each other get right. We love our wonderful city (best in the world), and we love you. Be kind. ❤

Light your prayer candles for us and wish us luck! We'll be closed Saturday and Sunday, with Monday pending.

Selfie of the week goes to the person who delivered us more booze than anyone else over the last 18 months (even when we couldn't afford to pay for it). And, of course, his better half. Thanks to Ryan and International Wine and Spirits!
