The Basin Lounge has been West Lakeview’s best kept secret for over 50 years. Named for the New Basin Canal that connected Lake Ponchartrain to downtown New Orleans, the canal was dug by Irish immigrants that needed a place to get a cold beer. Many changes have occurred since then. But the beer is still cold and the Jameson has not stopped flowing since those days. Today, The Basin offers a beautiful back courtyard, fantastic drink and food specials, karaoke nights, open mic sessions, knowledgeable bartenders you might just recognize and so much more.
