In the Philippines, we have a tradition called MANO PO-a gesture where a younger person gently takes the hand of an elder as a sign of deep respect and gratitude for those who came before us.

Today, that tradition is on my mind.

This Juneteenth, we honor the past, celebrate the present, and recommit ourselves to fostering a space where culture, community, and music bring people together.

At DBA, we're especially grateful for the Black musicians, artists, culture bearers, and community leaders whose creativity, resilience, and contributions continue to shape New Orleans and inspire us every day.

Their legacy lives on in EVERY note played on our stage.
