If you haven’t taken Australian w**e seriously for a while, this class will change your mind!

“New” Australian W**e: Part 1 | Victoria & Tasmania

Tuesday, October 20 | 6:00–7:30 PM

$119 per person | Nine w**es | Cheese plate included

Australia produces some truly stunning w**es, but many of the country’s most interesting bottles rarely make it to the United States. And if your impression of Australian w**e is still shaped by Yellow Tail, you’re in for a surprise.

For our new two-part Australian w**e series, we’re featuring w**es from Legend Australian W**e Imports, founded by husband-and-wife Master Sommeliers Jane Lopes and Jonathan Ross. Both worked at New York’s Eleven Madison Park, where Jonathan served as Head Sommelier. After several years living and working in Australia, they returned to the U.S. determined to introduce Americans to a very different side of Australian w**e.

This Tuesday, October 20, Joanne Close will be joined by Greg Knaps of Artisan Fine W**es for Part 1, exploring Victoria and Tasmania through nine w**es in three flights.

We’ll be tasting some exceptional w**es from producers and regions that deserve far more attention than they receive here. It’s a wonderful opportunity to discover just how diverse and exciting Australian w**e has become.

🇦🇺 Australia: Victoria & Tasmania | Part 1

Australia has been making world-class w**e for a long time, but many of its most interesting w**es simply haven’t made it to the U.S. Importers like Legend Australian W**e Imports are beginning to change that, giving us access to a much broader picture of what is actually being produced across the country.

Legend was founded by Master Sommeliers Jane Lopes and Jonathan Ross after they spent several years living and working in Australia. Their portfolio focuses exclusively on Australian w**e, bringing producers and styles to the U.S. that have historically been difficult to find here. They are also the authors of How to Drink Australian, an extensive guide to the country’s grapes, regions, producers and modern w**e culture.

In Part 1 of this two-part seminar series, we’ll focus on Victoria and Tasmania, tasting nine w**es in three flights. We’ll explore the regions, climates, grape varieties, producers and w**emaking choices behind the w**es, while getting a much closer look at the Australian w**es that are only now becoming more accessible to us.
