❤️ A Message From Shawn and Sara
We have gone back and forth about whether or not to make this post.
Honestly, neither of us ever imagined that we would have to defend ourselves or our business on social media.
We aren’t a big corporation.
We aren’t wealthy business owners with a team of lawyers and people handling things for us.
We’re just two regular people who had a dream.
We took the savings we had worked hard for, cashed in our 401(k)s, took a heloc on our house and took a HUGE chance on ourselves to purchase this bar and grill.
We did it because we believed our community deserved a place where people could come, have a good meal, enjoy a drink, laugh with their friends, and most importantly, feel safe and welcome.
We put our hearts, our time, our money, and everything we have into this place.
And when you put that much of yourself into something, you don’t just hire employees.
You trust people.
Our former lead bartender was someone we trusted tremendously. She wasn’t just an employee who walked through the door one day. She earned our trust. Intentionally I might add just to gain our trust and steal. So Sad how people are. She’ll have to answer for her misdoings one day.
We treated her with kindness, gave her responsibility, and trusted her with our business and our livelihood. Hell, my son would even house sit for her when they took vacations. (That we probably helped pay for with the money she stole!)
What we eventually discovered has been truly devastating!
We discovered significant financial theft from our business. We have security-camera footage(74 occasions of her stealing in just 30 days!), prosecutor said that was more than enough for probable cause! (We could’ve turned in hundreds of videos!) There is also documentation, and a recorded admission that we turned over to the state police detective handling the investigation.
A warrant was issued, and she turned herself in.
We have deliberately stayed quiet because we don’t believe Facebook is a courtroom, and we don’t want to interfere with the legal process.
We believe the evidence should be presented to the people whose job it is to investigate these matters — not argued about on social media.
But while we have been trying to handle this privately and appropriately, statements have been made to some of our customers that portray us and our business in a way that simply isn’t consistent with the facts and evidence we have.
That part hurts. Especially from the people I considered friends. Their loss, not ours!
Not just because of the money.
It hurts because we trusted this person.
It hurts because she was standing behind our bar, sometimes just feet away from us, while we were doing everything we could to build a business we could be proud of.
And it hurts because this isn’t just a business to us.
This is our livelihood.
This is our investment.
This is our future.
This is something we sacrificed for.
We understand that everyone has the right to tell their side of a story. Liars always lie and try to manipulate others for their personal agenda! The weak follow the loud one, while the quiet ones set back and watch it all unfold..lol
What we cannot accept is having our character, our business, and the years of work we’ve put into this community damaged by statements that leave out the very serious circumstances that led to this situation.
We aren’t going to post private recordings.
We aren’t going to post security footage.
We aren’t going to publicly attack anyone.
We don’t need to.
We’ve turned the evidence over to the proper authorities, and we will let the facts and the legal process speak for themselves.
To our customers: if you’ve heard something and you’re wondering what is actually going on, please come talk to us.
We will always treat you with honesty and respect.
And to everyone who has supported us, checked on us, continued to come through our doors, and reminded us why we took this enormous leap of faith in the first place…

More than you probably realize.
We started this place because we wanted to give our community a good, safe, welcoming bar and grill.
That hasn’t changed.
We’re still here.
We’re still working.
We’re still fighting for the business we poured everything into! Our true believers see it!
And we’re not going to let one painful chapter define what we’ve built.
